A Little Getaway to Wilmington, NC

This past weekend my dad, Isabelle and I took a little trip to North Carolina.  My dad grew up in Wilmington and most of his family is still there.  The last time I had gone there I was pregnant with Isabelle, so I was long overdue for a trip there.  It also helped that we found cheap tickets directly to Wilmington, only $19 each way!!!  That was a deal we couldn't pass up. And with that we were off....

This was Isabelle's 11th and 12th time on a plane, but amazingly, the first time I have had anyone with us on the plane.

While in NC, Isabelle finally got to meet my Granddaddy Buck.  It was a very special moment when he first met her.  He kept saying he waited a long time to meet her.  I wish it hadn't taken me so long to get up there.

An interesting discovery: looking at this picture I can finally see where Isabelle gets her face shape from.  She has my granddad's exact cheeks, chin, and jaw line.  When Isabelle was first born Charles said he thought she looked like my granddad, but it wasn't till I saw them together that I realized he was right.

I love this face!

Two of my cousins both had babies since I saw them last.  I finally got to meet little Roman and Hailie.

Two of the nights we were there we stayed at my Uncle Mike and Aunt Kathy's home.  They invited all the family over for a nice big dinner on Friday night.  It was so great to all be together and for everyone to be able to meet my little princess.  After everyone was gone we of course watched the UNC game.  Go HEELS!!!  What can I say, you can't help being a fan when you grow up with a Tar Heel Alumni.  I think my dad is the biggest fan I know!

Lots of love!

We had a wonderful visit with everyone and loved being able to travel with my dad.  It was great to have Isabelle really get to know my dad better as well as the rest of the family. Hopefully we will make it back to NC soon!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

On Carol's birthday (in Georgia) we had a very pleasant surprise... SNOW!  It all started during church, someone came in and said it was snowing outside and we went out to find this!  Of course I had to get Isabelle out of nursery, I didn't want her to miss seeing the snow fall. Little did I know the snow would keep falling all day!  It was a winter wonderland.

When we got home, I changed Isabelle into some warmer clothes and we went out to play in the snow.  At first she was a bit skeptical, not really knowing where all this white, cold stuff was coming from, but it didn't take her long to figure out that it was a lot of fun.

Chloe and Cassie brought out their sleds that they had only previously used on the grass.  They were thrilled to use them on the snow. Mikenzie also tried using them as a snowboard and did pretty good. Mikenzie decided to take Isabelle down the hill on the sled.  Isabelle had no idea what she was getting herself into when she willingly climbed on the sled.

But she soon found out.

Needless to say she didn't volunteer to go on the sled again.

Isabelle's true joy came when we built a snowman.  We sang "Once there was a Snowman" and she finally understood what the song was all about.  Now she loves when I sing the song.

Isabelle kept giving the snowman hugs and kisses.  It was so tender and sweet.

What a fun day!  Bye-bye Mr. Snowman!

Carol's 30th Birthday Bash

Carol turned 30 last weekend! So of course we had to come up to Atlanta to celebrate. She had a rad 80's party. Everyone had a great time dressing up and acting the part. We had 80's karaoke, 80's games, 80's candy, 80's costume contest....everything 80's. My favorite part was seeing everyone dress up from head to toe. We always say the 80's were wrong in so many ways. But we sure had fun bringing it back. Happy Birthday Carol!

Cute Couple!
